Hyundai has been teasing the launch of a brand new SUV called the Exter, which is set to compete against the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3. Previously, this segment was dominated by hatchbacks, but now the SUV look is in high demand, so it’s possible that other companies might follow suit. Based on the images shared by Hyundai, the Exter appears to follow the design language of its larger siblings, such as the Creta and the Venue, featuring a split headlamp design, wide arches, and cladding. It is expected to share some components with the I10 and the Aura. 1.2L naturally aspirated engine from the Venue is to be offered and the price could start from low as 6 Lakhs for the base(EX Variant) and high as 10 Lakhs for the top (SX) variant.
As for features, the Exter boasts an upright tailgate, a shark-fin antenna, a small built-in spoiler, and tail lamps with H-patterned LED lighting elements. Hyundai has yet to release details about the Exter’s interior. Bookings are now open, and the release is anticipated between mid-July and early August.
Hyundai is also prioritizing safety in order to compete against the highly rated Tata Punch. The Exter will feature the use of high-strength steel for enhanced structural integrity. Additionally, it will offer advanced safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including technologies such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. To further ensure passenger safety, the Exter will be equipped with six airbags and stability control features. By incorporating these safety measures, Hyundai aims to provide a secure and reliable driving experience for its customers.
